World Environment Day: Solutions to fight plastic pollution

fight plastic pollution

The Solar Impulse Foundation, and UN Environment have very similar approaches when it comes to protection of the environment: we believe in the importance to highlight solutions rather than problems.

This is why a few weeks ago, in collaboration with UN Environment, we decided to launch a call for solutions to fight one of the biggest challenges of our time: plastic pollution - and even though we don’t focus on problems, it’s always good to remind that 8 million tonnes of plastic enter our ocean each year.

So, we received many innovative solutions that could help fight one of the biggest challenges of our time, and we’ve selected a few that we’d like to highlight.

A Solar Impulse Efficient Solution

Members of the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions

Through this initiative, we aim to encourage people to take concrete action to fight plastic pollution.

If you have a solution to fight plastic pollution, you can still join our challenge of #1000solutions and submit it here.

The World Alliance brings together the main actors in the field of clean technologies in order to create synergies that will ultimately speed-up the implementation of clean and profitable solutions which have the potential to address the environmental challenges of today.

Efficient Solutions are not limited to the production of renewable energy. They encompass products, services, clean technologies and processes that are profitable and sustain economic growth, while protecting the environment and optimising the use of natural resources.
