The level of detail will vary from one Solution to another. It is important for all Innovators to fill the Tab 00.Scope definition explaining what is going to be considered in the study, and if some stages of the life cycle will be neglected. Indeed, it is not mandatory to fill all the tabs of the tool, but an explanation should be provided if one is neglected. The SEI is in no way a substitute to a detailed 3rd party LCA, which can take months of work to complete and requires a level of expertise. The SEI aim is to enable the Innovator to get a quantitative estimation of the environmental impact of the Solution in a few hours, which will then be reviewed by the Solar Impulse Team and the Experts.
