Opportunity to deploy agro-forestry, landscape restoration and other technologies for sustainable livelihoods in India

Ongoing

The Central Highlands Restoration Project (CHiRP) in India is being facilitated by Commonland, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Samerth Charitable Trust and Global Business Inroads (GBI) and supported by the IKEA Foundation. The aim is to identify disruptive solutions focused on improving the yields and adding value to the Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs), local agriculture, food processing and market linkages and supply chain traceability of local produce.

This is an excellent opportunity to have your solution deployed with strong support from local and international stakeholders in India. The selected companies / applicants will be provided with support on the ground by a technology working group consisting of team members from Commonland, TNC, Samerth Charitable Trust and GBI to facilitate localization and development of sustainable business models with the local ecosystem. The Working Group will be selecting the most suitable technological solutions to implement, deploy and scale the solutions in the project area which can be further replicated across Chhattisgarh and the neighbouring states.

You can get to know the Central Highlands Restoration Project (CHiRP) better by visiting here. The mission is to restore the landscape in the region and help the local stakeholders to elevate the Agroforestry sector and to improve their local economy. The priority sectors of solutions are agritech, more specifically Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) and bamboo, access to energy, and public health & environmental technologies in remote areas (for clean cooking, water, sanitation, waste management). Other interventions include communication and telecom technologies (cell tower signal boosters) to improve connectivity, sustainable construction technologies (roads, storage, etc.) to provide better access to these communities, produce value addition technologies to enhance their livelihoods and innovation in forest-based industries.

Deadline to show your interest is March 21st 2021.
