PLANET® - A new low carbon cement bag for sustainable construction

Planet® is cement that provides masons and project owners with a more sustainable solution in their building activities: - the lowest carbon footprint for cement bags used for structural building applications, as well as an optional voluntary carbon compensation - zero waste on construction sites - reduced fatigue for the worker, and no need to change work habits Planet® relies on the most optimised cement in terms of carbon emissions due to its composition (less clinker, more slag, alternative fuels for its production), and on a disintegrating paper bag and an adapted weight making work easier on job sites. Planet® is a global solution for sustainable construction site. It can be immediately used by masons in a traditional way.

Key features

  • 274 kg CO2/T for Planet vs 765 kg CO2/T for the reference cement of the regulator
  • A composition made of 66% of recycled materials (slag)
  • Replacing a bag of conventional cement (CEM II/B-LL) by a bag of "Planet®" results in a 52% CO2 reduction.
  • There is zero packaging waste on the construction site

Profitability

  • No cost for waste management on construction sites, as the "Planet®" bags are fully dispersible in the concrete mixer (no paper or plastic bags left on site after use)
  • On average, buildings with sustainable construction certification are valued between 6% and 12% higher than conventional buildings.

Maturity Stage

  • Medium and large scale commercialization
  • Small scale commercialization
  • Initial market commercialization
  • Prototype testing in the real world
  • Prototype testing 1:1 in the lab
