OTEC - Deep Sea Conversion -
An Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion system that harnesses the continuous difference in temperature of the water at surface and at depth.
The Electrical Power Generation system of the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) system converts heat energy in surface seawater (between 24 and 30 degrees celsius) and deep seawater (between 4 and 6 degrees celsius) into electrical energy. This marine renewable energy solution harnesses a silent, highly reliable and predictable resource available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a very high capacity factor compared to the other renewable energies that are intermittent. Moreover, thanks to the advantages offered by the pumping of cold sea water, the OTEC plant powered through the Electrical Power Generation system can provide several by-products that may be used for drinking water, air conditioning or aquaculture.
