By using a water cooling solution for its data centres, this gaming platform can reduce both its environmental impact and operational costs.
Cooling infrastructure is one of the largest sources of electricity consumption of one data center site. To solve this problem and set an example, Deutsche Telekom will run a POC based on water cooling to build a clean and sustainable digital infrastructure. To make data centres more sustainable, Cloud&Heat has developed a cooling system with direct hot water cooling and waste heat recovery. This innovative approach results in significant savings potential in three areas. Firstly, the onboard fans, which account for up to 25% of server performance, can be disassembled or operated at lower speeds. Secondly, hot water direct cooling is clearly more energy-efficient than air cooling, which accounts for 40 % to 60 % of data centre power consumption. Thirdly, the waste heat generated does not have to be released unused to the environment but can be reused, e.g. to heat buildings.
