Dry-air medium voltage gas insulated switchgear - A sulfur hexafluoride-free (SF6), primary, medium voltage (up to 36 kV) gas insulated switchgear (GIS).

Dry-air medium voltage gas insulated switchgear replaces SF6 with dry air.

This GIS uses pressurized dry air instead of SF6 as its insulating medium. Its design builds on all the advantages of traditional SF6-based GIS systems but operates with simple atmospheric air and is therefore much easier and cost-effective to manufacture and operate. Its core is generally more accessible for maintenance and measurement which also enables smart grid capabilities.
