Investment in Innovative Solar PV Microgrids to energize Ride-hailing Tech Startup HQ and Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
Investment in Solar PV Microgrids to energize HQ of Mobility Startup and Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles
The projects are seeking a combination of project finance, investment and grants for Solar PV Microgrid projects owned and managed by Emerging Infrastructure Capital, to energize the headquarters of a leading Mobility Startup in Africa and the charging infrastructure for its electric vehicles (EVs). The Emerging Infrastructure team has deployed and managed solar and battery storage projects at scale. Solar microgrids combined with battery storage provide EV charging flexibility in terms of power and cost savings. With a fleet of over 1000 drivers who have achieved over 850 thousand rides, the mobility startup uses an innovative app which provides a last mile delivery service option coupled with a ride hailing service using motorcycles. The app is readily available for IOS and Android devices. The mobility startup is pioneering EVs in Africa, and has recently introduced the first all-electric motorcycle in a notable economy in Africa. With some of the most technologically advanced features built into this hybrid system, it is specifically designed to fit perfectly into everyday commute. For the transportation industry, the power and cost savings benefits translate to enabling fleet electrification at scale. Besides curtailing fossil fuel consumption, increasing energy efficiency and shrinking the carbon footprint, we can now ensure fleets have the infrastructure behind them to support sustained growth.
