Elonroad is a modular platform system providing smart seamless electric mobility, everywhere and for everyone. Our system consists of a conductive rail that can both be laid on top of the road as well as integrated into the road. A conductive pic-up under the vehicle connects to the electric rail via sliding contacts. The rail is only active when covered by the vehicle. Our software system will manage safety and billing issues as well as compile data from all vehicles using the platform.

About

Elonroad Electric road system (“ERS”) is a charging infrastructure for all kinds of electric vehicles. It charges electric vehicles batteries both when parked and while driving with an effect of up to 300kW with 97% efficiency. It´s a conductive solution similar to traditional methods like the third rail used in the metro but including high level of IT technology embedded in the rail. It has been developed and tested in Sweden with support from University of Lund and the Swedish Energy Agency since 2015. The Elonroad ERS works for all electric vehicles, cars, taxis, buses and trucks. It will make it possible for Long Haul Trucks to drive electric without the need of large and heavy batteries. Without ERS an electric truck would need approximately 6 tons of batteries to drive for 8 hours (a workday). With the possibility to charge while driving the battery need is reduced by 80%. Instead of having 6 tons of batteries, an BEV Truck can have only 1 ton of batteries in order to drive from the ERS to destinations 50km away. Such battery can also be used for driving in between electric roads. For example and as a consequence, a highway would then only need to be 50% electrification because the charging on the road gives the double power than needed for the truck so it can drive twice as long as the length of the electric road. This reduces the investment cost of charging infrastructure.
