Aurora’s Grid has developed an ageing aware energy management software (EMMA 1.0) for Li ion batteries to be deployed in installation going from households to utility scale coupled with a renewable source of energy such as photovoltaic (PV) plants or wind turbines. The sizing software developed by Aurora’s Grid has the purpose of improving the quality of the sizing by implementing electrochemical ageing models of the battery energy system (BES). Aurora's Grid sizing software offers various inputs such as: •Battery Chemistry • Load profile • PV profile and business case: • Self-Consumption • Peak-Shaving • Primary Frequency Control • Secondary Frequency Control The user can choose which revenue stream/business case he's willing to prioritize. The benefits and the ageing associated with the installation and the use of the BES are then computed for multiple BES size.

Aurora’s Grid tool is both online/offline tool monitoring the state of the health (SoH) of different Li-ion chemistry
Aurora’s Grid tool is both online/offline tool monitoring the state of the health (SoH) of different Li-ion chemistries (such as NMC, iron phosphate, titanate) and mitigating the operating risks of those batteries (short-circuit, thermal runway, etc). Our diagnostic tool needs to receive current, voltage and eventually temperature measurement of the cell and it will compute SoH and estimate lifetime (full equivalent cycles) of the targeted battery with the specified operating conditions. Of course the lifetime expectation could be adapted for different services such as self-consumption, primary and secondary frequency control, peak shaving, load shifting, etc. In addition to that, for real time usage it can prevent dangerous operating conditions of the batteries ( by detecting non-usual time evolutions of temperature and voltage). We have developed our Li-ion ageing model based on several years of experimental test.
